The sources of the Yoga Tradition
The sources of the Yoga Tradition are based on the most important writings of the Hindu yoga tradition. Yoga has been consolidated throughout the history and culture of India from a profound vision transforming the human being. It has been expressed in literary, philosophical and spiritual references of extraordinary value and quality. They are an attractive mosaic of great utility and interest for anyone who is immersed in the practice and training of Yoga.
We will address the sources of Yoga in six blocks with different essential writings, their origins and their influences. Nonetheless, we will maintain an axis and main thread from the following great perspectives:
- The Advaitai> tradition from primitive Vedism
- Philosophical dualism and the Yoga-Sutras (Patanjali)
- Tantra and Hatha-yoga
We will use a large number of texts, versions and comparative literature. To facilitate the Course we will use for reference and support Georg Feuerstein's books on history, literature, philosophy and practice.
