The Architecture of the Human Body in Motion
As yoga practitioners we learn to move through our body. But ... Why settle for just looking at how we practice the asanas?
The body allows us to move and practice yoga, but it is a much more precise and comprehensive tool that can help us to experience, to know ourselves and to observe ourselves from another perspective.
The way in which we interact with the outside and the way through which we perceive and express ourselves affects the way we move, teach, practice and structure any yoga movement or posture.
With the practice of asanas, combining the understanding of the body and human morphology with tools such as anatomy, embryology and biomechanical models, we will delve into and investigate the architecture of the body, opening a wide range that will help us explore beyond of the practice of asanas.
Who can access this Postgraduate
This postgraduate course can be accessed by people who already have Yoga training of any tradition. If you meet these requirements you can reserve the Postgraduate course and complete the application form.
Course content
- First weekend: Lower extremities. We will learn the functionality and morphology of the feet, their arches and the relationship of these with the pelvic and abdominal diaphragms.
- Second weekend: Abdominal area and trunk. Differences between the spine and the "visceral spine" and how to work with them. Understanding of three-dimensional breathing in the region of the ribs.
- Third weekend: Upper limbs. Evolution from quadruped to standing and its influence on the practice of yoga. Understanding of the development and the shoulder-arm-forearm-hand relationship and its interaction with the outside world.
- Fourth weekend: Review and synthesis of the architecture of the human body through the observation and study of horizontal structures (diaphragms) and their respective visceral connections.
Who is this course for?
The course is a guide to help reflect on what shapes the human structure and how the body reacts and develops in gravity. Sensory information directly influences the way we perform and control the movement and realisation of asanas.
Learning to know its foundations and how they influence the practice of yoga allows us to expand not only the knowledge of the tradition, but to understand them from a new and very different point of view. If you are a Yoga teacher and you want to motivate your students by giving them totally new tools that you are used to, this course is for you.
