Consuelo Serrano - Laksmi.
My name is Consuelo Serrano, a graduate in Geography and History from the Complutense University of Madrid and I have a postgraduate degree in Public Affairs from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas. For more than twenty years I have worked as Communication Manager in institutions related to health, research and innovation.
When I started practicing Hatha Yoga I never imagined that it was going to become a fundamental part of my life, bringing me so many benefits and posing continuous challenges. Years later, following the advice of my teachers, I took the step of training as a teacher at Yoga Center Madrid, a center recognized by Yoga Alliance USA and UK. At present I continue attending workshops that complement my training, while I learn from my students.
A practice focused on women
Yoga is a millenary discipline developed in India by and for men. From the decade of the seventies of the twentieth century, a series of teachers raised the need to adapt this practice to the female physiological characteristics, taking into account its anatomical appearance, its complex hormonal system and the different stages through which it crosses.
In my classes I combine dynamic and fluid sequences with postures designed to relieve discomfort such as dysmenorrhea, migraine, anxiety, insomnia, hot flashes or joint pain of premenstrual syndrome, menstruation and menopause.
These classes are beneficial for women of all ages.
